Songs without music 4

"Event Horizon"
by Dave Howe 2010

I've been floating so long
...floating so long.
I don't know where I'm going?
And I don't care!

Past Orion and Cassiopia.
Past Red Giants and White Dwarfs
I travel alone these days
and they all stare!

Then someone, something calls out to me in the deepest silence.
A voice like quiet thunder wakes my soul.
Like the Hands of God grips, rips me away
and will never let me go?

Pulls me closer and closer to it's lips
urging me, demanding me to fall into this black abyss.
Spinning, raging dreaming into that astral sea
flying, falling what nightmare awaits for me?

On the edge of Spacetime
circling madness or Divine?
I peer into the void and see no end
within this tempest rays of light are forced to bend.

I am frozen in awe, I melt with fright
looking upon this...Event Horizon.

Within the violence there is peace
falling away, falling away
No raging storms inside
falling away, falling away

Unexplainable, unforgettable, tangible and attainable
falling away, falling away
incredible, so very incredible
falling falling falling
...I am here?

Violent destruction ripped away-eruption
the glue that binds the flesh, the soul the skin
has been erased.

Light collapse-time will never pass
looking down at me
I disintegrate more and more and more.

Into infinity, without memory
as they look upon...the Event Horizon.

I was intrigued with the word "Event Horizon" used among Physicists to explain the outer edge of a Black Hole in that if you were to fall in, they would witness your very being ripped apart and smear across spinning and spinning down into a spiral that seemed to last forever. While the person inside would fall in proper time and would appear that nothing eventful was taking place. I may have put my spin on it, and that's why they call it artsitic license.
