Published Poetry part 2

"Hearts of Winter" by David K. Howe-Timeless Voices

Starless night, freezing darkness,
unbroken silence of despair.
Shroud of White death all around me,
alone with thoughts more than I can bear.
Feral stalkers in the shadows,
there they wait for me too fall.
Spirits of once dead injuns,
somehow part of nature, and yet unnatural.
They hunt like wolves, but not for food,
not for pleasure, it's sweet revenge.
She leads her pack out into the moonlight,
their banshee wails drive me to the edge.
This is the end, and I know I'll die alone,
my crimes are hidden deep within my veins.
I carry the sins of my fathers,
but it is I who will die in their name.
I'm so scared and I'm so cold,
they circle round me, six shades of white.
There she is; God, please help me-those eyes,
freezing darkness...starless night.
